Appreciated the timeliness with which I received this book. Great reference for my future use as a general pediatrician.

Great text. This has helped me multiple times as the only provider available in a deployed environment in the middle East. It talks about whether orthopedic referrals are necessary in specific circumstances. It doesn’t really go through the specifics of how to apply braces and step by step processes but it offers some valuable insights. If you don’t have this book and you are in an environment where people will be approaching you on an emergency basis, this book is crucial.

I bought this in family medicine residency and still use it, though not as much. Very helpful for those less common fractures or especially helpful when you want to call the orthopedist but don’t want to sound like an idiot on the phone. It assumes a primary care person can handle fractures a little more complicated than I (or my local ortho-pod) would want me to handle, but overall, the advice is very helpful. I especially like the way it breaks down length of time for each treatment, when to re-xray, etc.

I previously used earlier edition of the book. Not much of a difference. Orthopedics have their own way of dealing with fractures. This book is entirely intended for primary care providers. An excellent reference I can keep in my office. I think Essentials of MS offers more compare to this book. It features an easy to read box of what one ought to do. Highly recommended.
