I had to return this because it did not fit my standard-sized bathtub. The problem is that the U-shaped bar that rests on the floor didn’t come down far enough over the piece that is clamped to the tub to allow me to connect the two parts in a secure way. Thus, the grab bar was unsteady and could easily fall off. This must be made for tubs with side walls that are several inches higher than my bathtub. It seems to me that this could have been avoided with a design that accomodates tubs with side walls of different heights. At a minimum, the product description should say “not suitable for tubs with side walls less than ___ inches.”

This bath rail does not work with tapered sided tubs. We even tried shimming the side clamps, but the clamps were still very unstable.
The product description should specify that a straight-sided tub is required.

Provides the support required with tubs that are slightly tapered at the top whereas the traditional clamp on safety rail cannot be securely fastened due to the to,the taper. Perfect solution

My elderly father has been staying at our home for the past month. I thought that the small grab bar and shower seat we installed a few years were fine for him to use. One Sunday morning, he fell in the tub while trying to get out. I replaced this higher handle as a grab bar for my dad to use. He has not had any problems since.
Would recommend highly!
